In the Sunday Times (18th May 2025), J.K. Rowling spoke for the first time in-depth about why she has chosen, through her charitable trust Volant, to focus on supporting causes to do with social deprivation, particularly those helping women, children and young people.
In the article she talks too about what compelled her to start her international children’s charity Lumos 20 years ago; why she funded the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic in Edinburgh, as well as Beira’s Place, a free support service for women who have experienced sexual violence or abuse at any time in their lives.
